Non-Surgical Weight Management

Because not everyone is a good candidate for surgical weight management, UW Health also offers a non-surgical weight management program.

 

Our non-Surgical Weight Management team will work with you to tailor a plan specifically to meet your needs and long-term goals.

 

Building new habits is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle long-term. Losing just 5-10% of your body weight can help with a variety of health conditions as well as improve your quality of life. This can be done by focusing on small but important changes in your nutrition and activity.

 

The Non-surgical Weight Management team will help you to develop a plan utilizing a combination of tactics that could include:

  • Calorie restriction
  • Low calorie diet
  • Weight loss medications
  • Controlling carbohydrates, proteins and fats
  • Protein supplements
  • Mindful eating
  • Body-friendly exercises

We will work with any food allergies, intolerances, or special diets you may follow, including gluten-free, FODMAPS, vegetarian or vegan.

 

Adults over 18 are eligible, although your ability to participate at the various levels of aggressiveness will be based on your medical condition, BMI, current weight loss standards and NIH guidelines.

 

Results will be based on the aggressiveness of the plan chosen, your physical activity and your individual metabolism.
