Steve Heuer, PA, is a UW Health physician assistant. Steve specializes in surgical weight management and  cares for patients who are overweight and obese. He supports patients who are pursuing profound weight loss through bariatric (weight loss) surgery, dietary plans, lifestyle changes and weight loss medications. Steve works with patients to prepare them for surgery and provides follow-up care for months or even years throughout their weight loss journey. Steve has a special interest in helping people maintain healthy behaviors. He collaborates and coordinates his patients’ care across a multidisciplinary team, working to ensure that all of their needs are met. Steve works to provide each patient with personalized care based on their unique needs and health situation. He takes the time to get to know each patient as an individual. Steve cares deeply about the well-being of other people and loves science and psychology. He looks forward to better understanding obesity as a disease and how to best treat the obesity epidemic. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, gardening, biking, canoeing and making pottery. My mission is to assist our patients in reclaiming their health and quality of life by achieving and maintaining significant weight loss.
