Barrett's Esophagus is a pre-cancerous condition that requires continual follow-up because of its risk of developing cancer of the esophagus.

At University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the state's only comprehensive cancer center, a team approach is used in treating patients with Barrett's Esophagus. Our Barrett's Esophageal Program includes specialists from gastroenterology, thoracic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, health psychology and social work.

The Carbone Cancer Center offers advanced procedures for detection, diagnosis and treatment of Barrett's Esophagus. In addition, it is one of only seven facilities using laparoscopic esophagectomy, a minimally invasive procedure for Barrett's Esophagus that has significantly shorter hospitalization and recovery period.
