UW Health Preventive Cardiology's pulmonary rehabilitation program helps people with lung disease manage skills and improve their physical functioning. Patients learn how to manage shortness of breath and increase activity tolerance, and receive one-on-one, personalized education.
Our comprehensive sessions include:
  • An individualized exercise program, with oxygen levels, heart rates and blood pressure monitored to ensure safety
  • Education about lung disease, medications and respiratory equipment
  • Instruction on breathing techniques and other ways to manage respiratory symptoms
  • Smoking cessation, nutritional counseling and health psychology services

Referral from a primary care or specialty physician is required for program enrollees. Initially, we will schedule two to three individual education and assessment visits that last 90 minutes. Multiple group exercise sessions are held throughout the week, or patients may set up a home program. For more information, please call (608) 263-7420.
