Dr. Yoram Shenker is an endocrinologist at UW Health and a professor emeritus in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Dr. Shenker’s clinical interest is treating rare conditions of the adrenal and pituitary glands and endocrine conditions associated with high blood pressure.
Dr. Shenker’s care philosophy is to give each of his patients’ ample time to ask questions and understand treatment options. His protocol is to order labs before meeting with patients to have a full picture of how their hormones are working.
In his personal time, Dr. Shenker enjoys listening to classical music, attending the theater, reading Hebrew and Polish literature and translating Anton Chekhov's plays from Russian to English with his son.
You cannot cure many conditions in endocrinology. You can keep them under good control and help patients feel well and lead normal lives. Transforming a patient’s life in this way is certainly a source of satisfaction.
