About

Vinay Patel, MD, is a UW Health gastroenterologist who treats patients with disorders of the digestive system. He specializes in endoscopy (using a tube to see inside the body through the esophagus) and colon polyp removal. Dr. Patel also is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

To Dr. Patel, listening to a patient’s wants and needs is of greatest importance. He works with his patients to create a care plan that aligns not only with their goals and expectations but also with their ability to adhere to the plan. He strives to provide the best care possible to his patients and help them live their best lives.

The best part of Dr. Patel’s day is being able to do a procedure that provides direct benefits to a patient. He understands that some procedures can be stressful. He acknowledges those feelings and reassures his patients of his training and expertise.

In his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys traveling, exercising, bicycling and gardening.

My goal for each patient is to help them feel better and to return to a normal and peaceful life.
