About

Uzoamaka (Amaka) Achufusi, MD, is a UW Health nephrologist and an assistant clinical professor n the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Achufusi cares for patients with a range of kidney problems, abnormalities, injuries and diseases, including those undergoing dialysis. She specializes in treating patients who have kidney damage due to cancer treatments.

While providing expert care is her number one priority, Dr. Achufusi strives to educate her patients about their condition so they are well-informed and can make the best decisions about their health care. Her care philosophy is to involve her patients throughout the entire process and guide them through the risks and benefits of each care option. She listens carefully and asks questions to understand what her patients need and how best to help them.

In her free time, Dr. Achufusi enjoys cooking, baking and watching movies.

My hope for each patient is that they can go through the course of their kidney disease with the best possible outcome.
