Sara Christensen Holz, MD

Sara Christensen Holz, MD, is a UW Health physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor. She treats patients with cancer who experience bone and muscular side effects from their treatment. Dr. Holz is also an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Holz specializes in cancer rehabilitation and spine, musculoskeletal and pain medicine. She performs electrodiagnostic evaluations to determine the health of the muscles and nerves. In addition, Dr. Holz does spine and joint injections to treat cancer-related pain, fatigue, lymphedema (swelling), nerve damage and muscle issues. She also cares for patients with low hormone levels related to cancer treatments.

In all cases, Dr. Holz strives to treat the whole person. She understands that each patient has different experiences and goals. Dr. Holz uses open communication and shared decision-making to help patients improve their quality of life. She develops educational tools to help providers give excellent care to patients with cancer.

In her free time, Dr. Holz enjoys mountain biking and everything related to water. She also loves spending time with her husband and two boys watching their sporting events.

My goal is to improve function, pain and quality of life for my patients who have a cancer diagnosis.
