About

Prashant Nagpal, MD, is a UW Health radiologist specializing in cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel) and lung imaging. He is a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (FSCCT). Additionally, Dr. Nagpal is an associate professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where he also serves as the section chief of Cardiovascular Imaging.

Dr. Nagpal captures and interprets medical images that help diagnose heart, blood vessel and lung conditions. These conditions include congenital heart disease, aortic disease, coronary atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He has a special interest in imaging kids and adults with heart failure to look for a specific disease that may be causing their hearts to fail. He is strongly committed to understanding how imaging information can improve the long-term outcomes for patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Active in research, Dr. Nagpal focuses on improving existing imaging techniques and understanding how imaging results can be used to gather information beyond a simple disease diagnosis.

Outside of work Dr. Nagpal enjoys reading books that focus on personal development.

I approach my work with empathy and a commitment to make a difference in the lives of my patients.
