About

Paula Cynkar, PA, is a UW Health physician assistant who specializes in internal medicine. She cares for people over the age of 18 who are admitted to the hospital.

Paula diagnoses and treats people with complex medical issues and infectious diseases. These may include acute (sudden) illnesses, such as bacterial infections, flu, hepatitis and COVID-19. She also treats injuries and chronic (ongoing) conditions, such as heart and lung disease. Many of her patients suffer from several medical conditions at the same time.

When talking with patients, Paula educates them about their medical issues and how to manage their symptoms. She also outlines treatment options and suggests ways to prevent illness and stay as healthy as possible.

In addition to caring for patients, Paula has served as an advanced practice provider supervisor for hospital medicine and infectious disease teams.

During her free time, Paula enjoys volunteering, playing pickleball, traveling and spending time with her family.

I help people understand, manage and recover from sudden illnesses and complex medical issues.
