About
Mikayla Kohls, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (ICU). She helps patients recover after open-heart surgeries. These procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and valve repair or replacement. Mikayla also cares for patients after a heart or lung transplant. She manages life support therapy via extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or Impella®.
Mikayla understands that a hospital stay can be a worrisome and uncertain time. She creates a safe, comfortable environment where patients can focus on healing. Her goal is always to provide compassionate, quality care.
Mikayla specializes in critical care for adult patients. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), an advanced nursing degree.
For many, the hospital is a difficult place to be. My hope is that each patient has a positive recovery experience with personalized care and family support.
