Michael Horowitz, PA, is a UW Health physician assistant and pulmonary (lung) and critical care medicine hospitalist.
Michael leads a team of specialists who assess and treat patients requiring hospitalization for complex or life-threatening conditions. These include stroke, heart attack, traumatic injuries and pneumonia. He also treats related concerns, such as pain, bleeding, fever and shortness of breath. Michael is an expert in heart and respiratory care, including critical airway therapies.
He listens attentively and compassionately to patients to understand their needs and provide individualized medical care. Michael ensures that emergency teams follow prehospital and emergency best practices.
Michael teaches advanced airway management for complex respiratory emergencies. He trains EMS providers in critical care and other specialized areas of emergency medicine.
In his free time, Michael volunteers for Madison Street Medicine, an organization that fills gaps in access to housing and health care. He’s also the assistant medical director for Sun Prairie and Waunakee Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
