About

Mary Baldauf, MD, is a UW Health pediatrician who specializes in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She diagnoses and treats newborns, children and adolescents who are seriously ill or have injuries, infections or other conditions requiring hospital care.

Dr. Baldauf evaluates symptoms, such as seizures, diarrhea, nausea and dehydration. She cares for patients with low blood sugar, diabetes and liver disorders such as jaundice, which causes yellowing of skin and eyes. She also treats urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bronchitis, croup and other diseases and disorders.

Her specialties include pre- and post-operative care for patients with traumatic injuries, bone fractures, appendicitis, tonsillitis and other conditions requiring surgery. She also treats patients with blood toxicity, sometimes caused by medications, environmental exposures or alcohol and substance use.

Dr. Baldauf views patient care as a team effort. In addition to collaborating with colleagues, she relies on her patients, families and caregivers to help her understand each patient as an individual. She considers them the best sources of information about their illness or injury, as well as their personal concerns, treatment goals and care needs.
