About
Maggie Williams, PA, is a UW Health physician assistant. Maggie cares for people with substance use disorders (conditions that make it difficult to control their use of alcohol or other drugs). She also treats health complications related to substance use, such as hepatitis C.
With compassion and respect, Maggie talks with people about how substance use affects their lives. She listens, addresses their concerns and explains their treatment options. Then, Maggie partners with her patients to develop personalized care plans that focus on their unique needs and goals. She offers nonjudgmental support and uses evidence-based practices to provide the best possible care.
Maggie is particularly interested in a treatment strategy called harm reduction, a set of practical strategies designed to reduce the negative consequences of substance use.
Her approach includes overdose prevention, safer use education, and efforts to reduce infectious disease transmission, all while meeting people where they are, respecting their goals, and supporting their unique path to health and healing without judgment.
Along with direct patient care, Maggie participates in research to discover new treatments for substance use disorders.
During her free time, Maggie enjoys weightlifting, thrifting, festivals, live music and spending time with her dog.
My goal is to meet patients where they are and partner with them on what matters most to them. I’m here to listen, support, and help each patient stay as safe and healthy as possible — without judgment.
