Loren Denlinger, MD, PhD

Loren Denlinger, MD, is a UW Health pulmonology and critical care medicine doctor and a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Medicine, Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

As a doctor who specializes in the lungs and respiratory (breathing) system, Dr. Denlinger diagnoses and treats patients with all types of airway disorders, including asthma, chronic cough, lung infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His special interest centers around asthma. He regularly works with patients who have asthma and conducts clinical trials and cohort studies researching asthma triggers, how the body recovers from flare-ups, effective asthma treatments and personalized medicine based on genetic profiles.

Dr. Denlinger uses a patient-centered approach to care. He studies each patient’s medical history in depth, discusses their symptoms and listens carefully to learn how their illness affects their health and overall lifestyle. He then offers education and treatment options to engage his patients in the process of developing a successful treatment plan — one that they are willing and able to follow.

His goal is to relieve his patients’ symptoms so they can pursue healthy, active lives.

During his free time, Dr. Denlinger enjoys bicycling and spending time on the water.
