About

Lisa Cotter, MD, is a dermatologist at UW Health.

As a dermatologist, Dr. Cotter treats a broad range of skin conditions. She performs treatments ranging from skin checks to complex medical dermatology and care for autoimmune conditions. She also provides cosmetic services, such as neurotoxin treatments. Dr. Cotter has a special interest in using laser therapy to treat both medical and cosmetic issues.

For any treatment plan to work, Dr. Cotter believes that she needs to understand each patient’s perspective, what they're willing or not willing to do and how their condition is affecting their quality of life. She partners with her patients to educate them about their conditions and treatment options. Together, they make decisions that will help to achieve the results they want.

Dr. Cotter is excited to be at UW Health, where she gets to not only deliver excellent care to patients but also be involved in education. She helps train residents and serves as an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Dermatology. She enjoys the opportunity to cultivate the next generation of physicians.

Outside of work, Dr. Cotter enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She also likes to explore new cities and exercise on her indoor bike.

Listening to patients is one of the most important parts of the patient-physician relationship.
