Leslie Smith, CNM

Leslie Smith, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife at UW Health.

Leslie provides gynecologic care to teenage through menopausal females, including pap smears, breast exams and contraception. She also provides individualized maternity care throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period.

Using the power of presence, Leslie strives to reduce fear and make everyone feel comfortable. She listens closely to patients to understand their values and preferences and educates them about their options. She then partners with patients to make decisions that blend the best medical practices with their unique preferences.

After working as a labor and delivery nurse for 19 years, Leslie chose to earn her midwifery certification. She appreciates the opportunity to act as a team with other UW Health specialists, including obstetricians and fetal-maternal physicians. Their collaboration allows more females (even those with higher risks) to safely enjoy the experience and support she offers as a midwife.

Outside of work, Leslie enjoys gardening, playing volleyball and walking her dogs.

My hope for our patients is that everybody is safe and that they have the experience they were hoping for.
