As a certified nurse-midwife, Leslie addresses primary health care needs for women with an emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, and the power of presence. For maternity clients, nurse-midwives provide individualized care and attendance throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
Certified nurse-midwives are registered nurses who have completed their Master's degrees and have been certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. The UW Health-Midwifery department attends deliveries at the UnityPoint Health-Meriter birthing center.
Leslie began her career at UnityPoint-Health Meriter in 2005 working as a registered nurse in labor and delivery, and graduated with a master's degree in nursing from Frontier Nursing University in 2019. She has a special interest in decreasing fear surrounding pregnancy and birth with education, presence, and postpartum support.
