About

Laurel Romer, MD, is a UW Health internal medicine doctor and also is a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Romer provides comprehensive primary health care to adults aged 18 and older.

Dr. Romer treats acute (occurring suddenly) health concerns such as abdominal pain, leg swelling and unexplained itching, and helps patients manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol and obesity.

Dr. Romer specializes in women’s health care. She also has clinical interests in preventive care and palliative medicine.

Dr. Romer uses a holistic, patient-centered approach to care. She listens closely to understand her patients’ concerns and personalizes care to meet their needs. She also practices shared decision-making with her patients, providing them with the information they need to make informed decisions about their health care.

In her free time, Dr. Romer enjoys thrifting and spending time with her family.

I enjoy getting to know my patients and understanding their motivations, fears, hopes and what’s happening in their lives. All of this helps me care for them as a whole person.
