About

Laura Hanks, MD, is a UW Health obstetrician and gynecologist and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She provides a full range of women’s health and obstetric services, including pregnancy, delivery and postpartum care.

One of her clinical interests is working with transgender patients to help them transition. She performs hysterectomies (uterus removal) for gender affirmation.

Dr. Hanks’ other clinical interest is robotic surgery for patients with complex conditions, such as a large fibroid (noncancerous growth inside the uterus) or endometriosis (tissue growing outside the uterus).

Her care philosophy is to listen to patients and work with them to create a treatment plan that meets their goals.

In her free time, Dr. Hanks enjoys rugby, college basketball, being outdoors and exploring Madison.

I enjoy helping patients who have gynecologic pain find treatments that improve their lives. My goal is for patients to feel heard and reassured after each visit.
