Katherine Coulter, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner in family medicine.
Katherine provides comprehensive health care for families and individuals of all ages. She treats illnesses and injuries and performs medical screenings and routine physical exams. She also works with people to help prevent disease and manage chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity. If patients have a substance use disorder, she guides them to the right treatment.
Believing in a team approach to health care, Katherine always takes time to talk with her patients about their treatment options. She feels it’s important to help them choose the best care plan for themselves and their families. She also educates her patients about how to improve their overall health and well-being.
Katherine entered the medical profession because of her desire to make a positive impact on people's lives.
To help improve patient care, Katherine is involved in researching diabetes management, sepsis (a life-threatening complication of infections) and nurse practitioner education.
When not treating patients, Katherine enjoys traveling with her husband. Their goal is to visit all Major League Baseball ballparks around the country as they follow the Chicago White Sox.
The beautiful aspect of family practice is that we get to know our patients personally. We care for them from birth through the teen years and into adulthood.
