About

Jonathan Wong, DO, is a pediatric gastroenterologist at UW Health. Dr. Wong specializes in treating children with disorders of the GI tract (including the esophagus, stomach and intestines).

Among the common issues Dr. Wong manages are reflux, trouble eating or swallowing, bowel movement issues (constipation and diarrhea), poor growth and complex inflammatory conditions such as Crohn’s disease. He is skilled in the latest diagnostic endoscopy procedures and believes that “listening” is key when working to relieve children’s suffering.

Outside of caring for patients, Dr. Wong serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where he is an avid researcher. His research interests include how nutrition relates to inflammatory bowel disease in children and how to use nutrition to improve surgical outcomes and health after surgery.

During his personal time, Dr. Wong enjoys hiking and camping in the great outdoors –particularly the North Woods of Wisconsin. He also enjoys watching sports and spending time with his wife, daughter and their dog.

Making sure children and parents know we are interested helps to relieve stress. Getting them involved in the care plan sets the stage for a good outcome.
