About

Jessica Musto, MD, is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist (liver specialist) at UW Health. Dr. Musto treats conditions affecting the liver, including fatty liver, infection, autoimmune disorders, genetic disease and alcohol-related liver damage.

Dr. Musto provides care to patients before and after liver transplant surgery. She involves her patients in their care through shared decision-making, keeping them informed about their condition, options and health status. Dr. Musto enjoys building personal relationships with patients. She helps people to feel better and balance personal health and life priorities.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Musto is an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Her research includes studying alcohol-associated liver disease, early palliative care (managing discomfort) for liver disease and organ transplantation in liver-disease. She investigates how early palliative care and early transplant surgery may play a role in improving symptoms, end-of-life goals and advance-care planning for patients with liver disease.

In her free time, Dr. Musto likes to explore the greater Madison area with her family and their dog. She especially enjoys taking her daughters to the zoo, parks and other area attractions.

I meet people where they are and help them to get the most out of their lives and their health.
