Gihan Dawood, DO, FACE

Gihan Dawood, DO, FACE, is a UW Health endocrinologist. She’s also an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Dawood treats hormone-related disorders caused by problems in the organs and glands of the endocrine system. She cares for patients with various conditions, including thyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal gland issues, diabetes and cystic fibrosis. Dr. Dawood also works with the cancer team to help patients whose treatments affect their hormone levels.

Dr. Dawood began her medical career as a nurse and continues to carry her passion for patient-centered care. A firm believer that listening is a gift, she looks forward to discovering who her patients are, not just why they have come to see her. From uncovering a diagnosis to celebrating success, Dr. Dawood supports her patients every step of the way. Above all, she strives to help people find purpose on their journey toward health and happiness.

Outside of work, Dr. Dawood enjoys traveling, playing squash, painting watercolors, spending time with friends and volunteering at golden retriever rescues.

We go further together. My patient is the driver and I’m the passenger — I'm not here to make decisions for them; I’m here to help them get to where they want to be.
