About

George Lester, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner in orthopedic surgery. He provides comprehensive orthopedic care for patients with severe injuries to the bones, joints and associated soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Working with UW Health orthopedic surgeons, George’s primary focus is fracture care, specifically complex pelvic and acetabular (socket) fractures, limb salvage, limb reconstruction, amputations, chronic bone and soft tissue infections and non-unions (fractures that don’t heal). He also provides general orthopedic care that includes hip, knee and ankle replacements.

Part of George’s role as a nurse practitioner is to explain diagnoses and treatments in easy-to-understand terms. Using a patient-focused approach to care, he takes time to understand his patients’ needs and expectations and answer their questions to ensure they understand procedures and what recovery may look like for them.

In his free time, George enjoys spending time with his wife and three active young sons. He is an avid outdoorsman and serves as an assistant Scout Master and District Commissioner for the Scouts of America in Freeport, IL.

My goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care that exceeds patients’ expectations while pushing everyone around me to a higher standard of care.
