About

Gauri Bhutani, MD, is a UW Health nephrologist (kidney specialist). She’s also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Bhutani diagnoses and treats people living with kidney diseases and disorders, with a focus on preventing the need for dialysis or more complex treatments.

Dr. Bhutani cares for patients in outpatient clinics and the hospital. She evaluates and treats conditions including high blood pressure, immune disorders and kidney injuries. She also treats inherited conditions such as polycystic kidney disease, or PKD (abnormal growths on kidneys), and kidney failure requiring dialysis or transplant surgery.

Through educating patients and managing kidney function and health, Dr. Bhutani helps patients maintain their kidney health to avoid needing dialysis. For patients who require dialysis or more complex kidney care, she helps to ensure they're in their best health through every stage of treatment.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Bhutani researches both PKD and abnormal blood proteins. Her goal is to improve kidney health and care for patients with these and other conditions.

My approach to care is very patient-centered. The patients and their individual needs always come first.
