About
Eric Monroe, MD, is a UW Health interventional radiologist who treats both adult and pediatric patients. He uses advanced imaging techniques to treat a wide range of conditions and is committed to providing minimally invasive solutions that help patients heal quickly and safely.
Dr. Monroe focuses on interventional radiology, treating conditions that affect patients from head to toe. He uses tools including ultrasound, MRI, CT and X-ray to guide tiny instruments through small openings in the body to treat big problems. His clinical interests include treating benign conditions, managing pain and supporting patients with cancer.
Dr. Monroe is also a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where he conducts clinical research to improve outcomes for interventional radiology.
Dr. Monroe believes in working as a team with patients and their families. He listens carefully to parents and values their insights, especially when children are too young to explain what they’re feeling. He uses clear communication and visual tools, such as medical images, to help patients and families understand conditions and treatment options. His goal is to cure or relieve suffering in the least invasive way possible.
Outside of work, Dr. Monroe enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons. Together, they love outdoor activities like mountain biking, skiing and fishing. He often includes his children in his hobbies, making family time both fun and active.
My philosophy is to use the skills and knowledge I have to cure a condition or relieve suffering in the least invasive way possible. How can we put this all behind us with nothing but a Band-Aid?
