Elizabeth Fleming, MD

Elizabeth Fleming, MD, is a UW Health family medicine doctor who provides home-based primary care for older adults who are unable to leave their home for care. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Fleming came to medicine through the intersection between science and the humanities, and her practice remains grounded in understanding the stories of her patients. She believes it is important to learn what matters most to each patient to help guide their health care and help them feel their best. Her research focuses on the patient physician relationship and narrative medicine, which looks at how people’s stories and the way they are written in the medical record can affect trust, bias and care.

Outside of work, Dr. Fleming enjoys reading, writing and spending time outside with her family.
