About

David Kushner, MD, is a gynecologic oncologist at UW Health and a professor and the vice chair of Faculty Development, Education and Wellness for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He treats patients with gynecologic cancers involving the cervix, fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, vagina and vulva, as well as those with gestational trophoblastic disease (rare tumors that grow in the uterus during the early stages of pregnancy).

Dr. Kushner is an expert in the surgical and chemotherapeutic management of patients with gynecologic cancer as well as a nationally recognized specialist in minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic cancer, including robotic hysterectomy and other gynecologic procedures. He also is an expert in postoperative pain management and fertility/menopause-sparing surgery.

Patients see Dr. Kushner throughout their cancer journey — from diagnosis and treatment planning to therapy and survivorship. He enjoys getting to know his patients, listening to their concerns, educating them about their treatment options and connecting them to the extensive support and resources available at UW Health.

His research interest focuses on minimizing the negative impact of cancer and subsequent treatments on a patients’ quality of live as well as sexual health after cancer. He also participates in clinical research, providing patients with access to novel therapies for ovarian, uterine and other types of cancer.

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Kushner enjoys spending time on the water sailing and paddle boarding.
