David Sonetti, MD, is a UW Health interventional pulmonologist (lung specialist) and an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Sonetti evaluates lung conditions and manages the care of patients with a variety of lung and airway disorders. His areas of expertise include post-lung transplant care and critical care medicine.
Dr. Sonetti specializes in using advanced, minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat lung disease. He performs procedures such as chest tube placement, airway supporting stent (tube) placement and flexible bronchoscopy. He also diagnoses and treats conditions or complications that sometimes occur after lung transplant surgery.
Dr. Sonetti’s approach to care is based on science-supported therapies and shared decision-making. He guides patients through each step of their diagnosis and educates them about their conditions. He talks with patients about their treatment options, including ways to relieve discomfort and manage symptoms such as shortness of breath for improved quality of life. He personalizes care to meet each patient’s needs and goals.
In his free time, Dr. Sonetti enjoys water skiing, snow skiing and cycling.
