About

Cullen Buchanan, MD, is a UW Health cardiovascular medicine doctor. He helps people who have problems with their heart and cardiovascular system. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Buchanan provides comprehensive care in both preventive cardiology and chronic cardiovascular disease, welcoming patients with a wide range of needs, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart failure, heart valve disease, exercise related heart conditions, coronary artery disease and heart attack. He also has an interest in sports cardiology, an emerging field of cardiovascular medicine that focuses on the heart’s activity and related issues during physical stimulation.

Dr. Buchanan finds great satisfaction in spending time on educating his patients about their own health as it pertains to their cardiovascular conditions. It is exciting to use evidence-based medications, advanced imaging and procedures alongside patient centered discussion to improve the quality of life for patients. He works hard to cultivate a longitudinal relationship with his patients and give back to the community through cardiovascular care and health.

Outside of work, Dr. Buchanan enjoys staying active and spending time with his family.
