About

Christopher Manakas, MD, is a UW Health urologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Manakas diagnoses and treats a variety of male and female urinary tract disorders. These include frequent urination, incontinence, bladder control problems, enlarged benign prostate and other prostate disorders.

Dr. Manakas offers diagnostic testing and medical and surgical therapies for urological conditions. He treats organ and structural problems that can affect kidney and bladder function. Dr. Manakas has advanced expertise in performing the Holmium laser enucleation procedure. He uses this complex, minimally invasive laser therapy to remove enlarged prostate tissue that blocks urine flow.

When not performing surgery, Dr. Manakas spends time educating and advising patients. He talks with them about their condition and helps them choose the best treatment options for their goals. He focuses on alleviating or managing symptoms to improve quality of life.

In addition, Dr. Manakas is part of a research team investigating the most effective surgical approaches for treating noncancerous prostate disorders. He trains residents and other surgeons how to perform the complex Holmium laser enucleation procedure.

In his free time, Dr. Manakas spends time with his family and enjoys downhill skiing, golfing and curling. He is also a musician who plays saxophone and piano.

There's no greater professional reward than being able to tell someone that they have options to get some relief from their condition.
