About

Christina Barreda, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric pulmonologist and an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Pediatrics, Division Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. She is also co-director of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center at American Family Children’s Hospital. She cares for children with breathing problems.

Dr. Barreda is passionate about helping kids attain the best possible quality of life. “Growing up, I witnessed how great medical care can help people achieve their full potential,” she said. “I also saw that when people didn’t have access to good medical care, they often had a harder time achieving their dreams because of poor health.”

When working with patients, Dr. Barreda first wants to understand their personal goals, so she can help create a plan to achieve them. She views patients and their families as a vital part of the health care team and encourages them to take part in making health care decisions.

To further her field, she is actively involved in research, focusing on how digital media communicates information that influences health care decision-making and how to use it more effectively in the future. In addition, she participates in clinical research around cystic fibrosis.

Outside of work, Dr. Barreda enjoys reading, running, listening to podcasts and spending time with her family.
