About

Christina Amend, MD, is a UW Health Kids hematology and oncology doctor. She is also an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant.

Dr. Amend cares for children with blood diseases and blood cancers. These include bleeding and clotting disorders, anemia (a low number of healthy red blood cells) and cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.

During the first visit, Dr. Amend works to get to know the child and family. She explains the child’s diagnosis with care and compassion, using words that everyone can understand. She listens to concerns, outlines treatment options and answers questions.

Dr. Amend believes the partnership between families and doctors is incredibly important and works together with families to make the best decisions for their child’s care. She also enjoys making connections with children so that she can teach them how to live full, healthy lives.

To help improve patient care, Dr. Amend works with clinical trials and other research projects involving cancer and bleeding disorders in children.

During her free time, Dr. Amend enjoys traveling, biking, cooking, reading, painting, pottery and exploring Madison with her family.

My goal is to help children feel better, participate in activities they enjoy and live their lives to the fullest.
