Brian Gander, MD, is a UW Health plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon. He’s also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Gander has fellowship-level training and expertise in hand and wrist surgery and microsurgery. He treats conditions ranging from cosmetic concerns to bone fractures and complex traumatic injuries in patients of all ages. In addition to intricate hand, wrist and finger repair and reconstruction, Dr. Gander treats carpal tunnel syndrome (compressed wrist nerve), cubital tunnel syndrome (pinched elbow nerve) and other nerve disorders throughout the body. His specialties include complex scalp reconstruction as well as reconstructive surgery on the breast, chest, abdomen, arms, legs and feet. He also performs facial reconstructive and cosmetic procedures, skin reconstruction after skin cancer and body contouring after weight loss. Dr. Gander carefully listens to each patient’s concerns, priorities and goals as he discusses procedures and treatment options. For severely injured patients, he reassures both individuals and families. He offers compassionate care as he talks with them about what to expect on their journey toward healing. Outside of work, Dr. Gander enjoys spending time with his wife and children. I enjoy performing complex procedures and providing high-level care so people can return to doing the things they really love to do.
