Ashley Berka, NP, is a UW Health maternal-fetal medicine nurse practitioner. Ashley provides care to women experiencing high-risk pregnancies.
The risk might be due to multiple pregnancies (more than one baby at a time), high blood pressure, heart conditions or organ transplants. She also provides care and education for the postpartum period, preeclampsia (the onset of high blood pressure during pregnancy), contraception and mental health disorders.
Ashley experienced medical conditions as a child, and she also had a high-risk pregnancy with her twins. These experiences continue to inspire her to provide excellent care to her patients in similar scenarios.
Her philosophy is to provide evidence-based care to her patients. She focuses on developing a meaningful relationship with her patient based on honesty, trust, education and communication. Ashley works to educate her patients and helps them to understand why treatments and procedures may be necessary or beneficial. She advocates for her patients and enjoys being someone with whom they’re comfortable communicating.
In her free time, Ashley enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, reading and spending time with her three boys and husband.
I strive to be an advocate for my patients and for them to be confident knowing that I’ll do my best to provide them with the best possible care.
