MADISON, Wis. – UW Health and Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic Health System completed a transaction on Nov. 1, 2026, to officially bring the Beaver Dam medical center into the UW Health system.
The location will be renamed UW Health Beaver Dam Hospital and Clinics, according to Carey Gehl, chief strategy officer, UW Health.
“This is an exciting day for us, for our patients and for our newest team members in Dodge County,” she said. “We are committed to providing care close to home whenever possible while also ensuring Beaver Dam and surrounding communities have access to the expert specialty care available at UW Health.”
As part of UW Health, the Beaver Dam campus will connect patients and families in Dodge County and surrounding communities with coordinated care, specialty services and the resources of an academic health system.
Patients should not expect much change in the first few months, Gehl said.
“Patients might start to see new signage in places, but appointments will proceed as scheduled with the care teams they know,” she said.
Care and services will continue as planned across the hospital, primary and specialty care clinics, pharmacy, home health, hospice, nursing home, assisted living, memory care and senior apartments.
Scheduled appointments will remain the same unless patients are notified otherwise, and patients can continue requesting new appointments through My Marshfield Clinic or by calling their clinic’s current phone number.
Accepted insurance coverage is not changing, and billing will remain the same for now. Patients can continue paying bills as they do today, including through My Marshfield Clinic, and UW Health will provide advance notice and support if processes change.
Patients will also continue using My Marshfield Clinic to view health information, communicate with care teams, manage appointments and request prescription refills until the transition to UW Health MyChart in March 2027. Instructions and support will be provided for patients before that change. Home health and hospice services will become part of UW Health Care Direct.
UW Health will integrate the Beaver Dam campus in phases, including aligning clinical systems, expanding connections to specialists, programs and services, and recruiting new team members to support long-term access to care in the region.
This work supports broader efforts to strengthen access to care across Wisconsin, particularly in rural and community-based settings, according to Gehl.
Approximately 350 team members are joining UW Health as part of this transition.
UW Health Beaver Dam Hospital and Clinics is a fully integrated medical campus that includes a hospital, a skilled nursing facility and independent senior living apartments. In addition to services offered on the main campus, it operates two assisted living facilities and primary care clinics in Columbus, Horicon and Waupun.
