Nicole Pulia, PhD, CCC-SLP, earned her master’s degree at the University of Iowa in 2003 and her doctoral degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a focus on dysphagia (swallowing disorders) from Northwestern University in 2012. As a practicing speech-language pathologist at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics and the Madison VA hospital, Nicole’s clinical interests include evaluation and treatment of dysphagia across a variety of patient populations. In addition to her clinical position, she leads a research program focused on improving identification of dysphagia in older adults and developing innovative evidence-based interventions for prevention of adverse health outcomes. Her current NIH-funded research focuses on novel therapeutic interventions for patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and comorbid dysphagia.
