About

Nicole L. Baumann-Blackmore, MD, is a pediatrician and newborn hospitalist at UW Health and a clinical associate professor in the Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Baumann-Blackmore cares for newborns in the hospital after birth. As needed, she attends deliveries and performs circumcisions and frenotomies (a procedure that allows the baby’s tongue to move more freely, improving speech and breastfeeding).

As an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Dr. Baumann-Blackmore also provides expert support for mothers who breastfeed their babies.

Knowing that the first few days with a newborn are sometimes stressful, her goal is to help parents learn to care for their newborns confidently, especially as they transition to home.

During personal time, Dr. Baumann-Blackmore looks forward to spending time with her own family and their dog. She also enjoys cooking, baking, hiking and all Badger sports.

For new parents, the first few days with a newborn can feel scary and overwhelming. I work to give families the knowledge they need to care for their babies with confidence and ease.
