John-Paul (JP) Yu, MD, PhD, is a UW Health radiologist and tenured assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. In addition, Dr. Yu has courtesy appointments as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the College of Engineering. Dr. Yu is a neuroradiologist who focuses in neuropsychiatric and neurocognitive illnesses, Dr. Yu uses the latest imaging technology, including CT and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies to diagnose a variety of diseases, including psychiatric disorders.

In addition to his clinical and faculty work, Dr. Yu leads a systems neuroscience laboratory where he researches various aspects of brain imaging, including gene-environment interactions, therapeutic outcomes of diffusion weighted MRI and the development of new MR and PET neuroimaging methods for neurologic and psychiatric disease.

In Dr. Yu’s off time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, hiking, cycling and mountain biking.
