Acerca de
Mohamed Hamdan, MD, MBA, is a UW Health cardiovascular medicine doctor and a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He cares for people who experience symptoms of lightheadedness or fainting. His patients are at high risk for falls, or they have already fallen.
Dr. Hamdan evaluates patients to determine what may be causing their lightheadedness, fainting or falls. These symptoms can have many possible causes, including sudden drops in blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, changes in blood sugar, dehydration, pain, stress or other medical conditions. He uses his expertise in cardiovascular medicine to look for heart-related causes while also considering other factors that may contribute to a patient's symptoms.
Dr. Hamdan takes a comprehensive approach to diagnosis. He reviews each patient's medical history, symptoms and medications, performs a physical examination and may order or review diagnostic tests to better understand what is happening. When appropriate, he works with other specialists and members of the care team to identify the underlying cause and determine the best course of treatment.
Dr. Hamdan believes patients should understand their condition and be involved in decisions about their care. He takes time to explain test results and treatment options in clear, easy-to-understand language. Together with each patient, he develops an individualized care plan focused on treating the underlying cause, reducing the risk of future fainting and falls and helping patients feel more confident in managing their health.
