About

Maryam (Leila) Famouri, MD, is a UW Health internal medicine doctor who treats a wide range of general medical issues, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and heart problems. Dr. Famouri also provides women’s health care, routine physicals and preventive care.

As a primary care physician, Dr. Famouri enjoys getting to know her patients over the long term. As needed, Dr. Famouri orders tests and exams to make a diagnosis and create the most effective treatment plans. Her goal is to help people achieve the best possible health and to live fulfilling lives.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Famouri serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is passionate about health policy and health equity research. She also enjoys developing new coursework for residents and medical students.

When not treating patients, Dr. Famouri enjoys biking, music, singing, theater and traveling.

I believe it’s important to spend time talking with my patients and make sure all their questions are answered.
