Acerca de

Mara Guse, PT is a UW Health physical therapist with a doctorate in physical therapy. She helps patients build strength, improve movement and get back to everyday activities.

She treats both short term and long-term injuries, post-surgical recovery, balance challenges and trouble returning to daily routines. She has a special interest in working with children and adolescents with orthopedic conditions; bone and joint concerns and neurological conditions; conditions that affect the brain and nerves. This includes cerebral palsy and developmental delays and other conditions that can affect strength, coordination and movement. She also works with adults with special needs, focusing on helping each person move with more confidence and take part in daily life.

Mara chose physical therapy after her own experience as a high school and college athlete. She had multiple injuries and four surgeries, and she saw how physical therapy can support healing and help people return to the activities they love. Her caregiving, volunteering and community involvement also shaped her commitment to working with individuals with disabilities, including cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy and Down syndrome. She believes every patient deserves compassionate, individualized care that is built around personal goals and real-life needs. She works to make therapy engaging and meaningful so patients can build confidence, independence and success.

Outside of work, Mara loves sports, especially cheering on the Rockford IceHogs and Chicago Cubs. She also enjoys crafting, creative projects at home and attending local events around Rockford.
