Mackenzie Hazzard, NP

Mackenzie Hazzard, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner. She treats patients of all ages who have both acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) medical problems. She has a special interest in heart conditions, preventive medicine and palliative care (optimizing quality of life for patients with serious illnesses).  

Mackenzie provides individualized care tailored to each of her patients. She educates them about their conditions and provides support and guidance based on their needs. It’s important to Mackenzie that her patients leave every appointment feeling heard and cared for. 

Mackenzie was inspired to enter the medical profession due to her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis. Her mother’s strength and the supportive treatment her health care team provided empowered Mackenzie to deliver that same level of care to her own patients. 

Outside of work, Mackenzie enjoys boating, snowmobiling, reading, going on walks with her family and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers play football.

My patient care philosophy is to create and build an environment where every patient feels like a friend and every coworker feels like family.
