Katharina Stewart, MD, is a maternal-fetal medicine doctor  at UW Health. She cares for high-risk pregnancy patients, including nonbinary and transgendered people. Dr. Stewart works closely with high-risk patients who have a history of previous complicated pregnancies, chronic medical conditions that affect pregnancy and unexpected medical issues that arise during pregnancy such as hypertension (high blood pressure), gestational diabetes and cardiac (heart) issues. She also cares for patients who have at-risk fetuses with congenital malformations and other health complications. Dr. Stewart provides comprehensive care through every step of the pregnancy journey. Through open communication, she partners with patients and their families to help them reach their goal of delivering a healthy baby. She also advocates for her patients and collaborates with other departments to create a seamless transition from pregnancy to after-birth care. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Stewart is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine  at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where she also services as the director of Core Clinical Curriculum. In her free time, Dr. Stewart enjoys cooking, reading and biking the trails of Madison. My hope for my patients is that they have the family that they've always wanted, no matter what that looks like.
