Karrie Burns, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner, specializing in family medicine. She has worked in health care for over 30 years and brings a wide range of experience to her role. Karrie is proud to care for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults.
Karrie sees patients for many reasons. These include routine checkups, wellness exams, mental health support and minor procedures. She has a special interest in helping people with anxiety and depression and enjoys building long-term relationships with families. Her background includes work in emergency care, intensive care, geriatrics and home health, which helps her understand many different patient needs.
Karrie’s approach to care is all about listening and building trust. She wants her patients to feel as comfortable with her as they would with a friend. She believes that good care starts with understanding each person’s goals and helping them take charge of their health. Karrie uses motivational interviewing to guide patients in making choices that support their well-being.
Outside of work, Karrie enjoys live music and traveling. She is a big fan of the Dave Matthews Band and often attends concerts, including trips to Mexico and the Gorge. She also enjoys spending time with her family and has a strong connection to her community through her personal and professional experiences.
My approach to patient care is to make sure people feel comfortable and heard,” says Karrie. “When patients are open and honest, we can work together to build a strong foundation for their health.
