Jennifer Poehls, MD

Jennifer Poehls, MD, is a UW Health endocrinologist. She’s also a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Poehls cares for patients with endocrine system disorders. These conditions affect the glands and organs that produce hormones. She treats patients with diabetes, calcium disorders, pituitary and adrenal gland concerns. Dr. Poehls also helps people with hormone problems related to the ovaries or testicles and provides gender-affirming hormone therapy.

Dr. Poehls specializes in thyroid diseases. She treats conditions such as overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and thyroid cancer.

With a focus on preventive care and personalized treatment, Dr. Poehls helps her patients live full, healthy lives. She takes the time to educate each patient on their disease, so they feel confident making informed decisions. Above all, Dr. Poehls looks forward to helping people overcome their day-to-day challenges and achieve their health goals.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Poehls teaches the ForWard curriculum for medical students at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health for medical students.

Outside of the office, Dr. Poehls enjoys spending time with her daughters.
