Jason Klovning, MD

Jason Klovning, MD, is a UW Health general surgeon. Dr. Klovning performs surgery to treat abdominal conditions such as appendicitis (swelling of the appendix, a small organ on the lower right side of your belly), gallbladder disease and hernias (when organs push through a weak area of tissue).

Dr. Klovning is skilled in a range of techniques, including minimally invasive, laparoscopic and open surgical procedures. With the same precision that he performs surgery, Dr. Klovning takes time to carefully explain conditions and procedures, so his patients are fully educated and feel empowered to make decisions about their treatment. He uses plain language and believes open communication is essential to providing the best care possible.

Outside of work, Dr. Klovning enjoys flying planes, keeping honeybees and watching sports. Dr. Klovning is also a senior Aeronautical Medical Examiner for the FAA.

We all will get old and have problems in life. Being a surgeon helps me solve some of these problems for people.
