Emily Backes, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric cardiologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders in infants, children and adolescents. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where she is committed to advancing pediatric heart care through clinical practice, education and research.
Dr. Backes cares for young patients with a wide range of cardiac rhythm conditions, also known as arrhythmias. Her expertise includes treating Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, supraventricular tachycardia, inherited arrhythmia syndromes, ventricular tachycardia, complete heart block and post-operative arrhythmia. She works closely with patients, families and multidisciplinary care teams to develop personalized treatment plans that support both heart health and overall well-being.
