Clare O’Connor, MD, MPH, is a UW Health endocrinologist and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. O’Connor treats a range of conditions affecting the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands, which produce hormones that control many of the body’s functions. Dr. O’Connor treats disorders affecting the thyroid gland (located in the front of the throat), adrenal gland (in the abdomen) and pituitary gland (at the base of the brain). When these glands aren’t working correctly, they can negatively affect energy levels, body temperature, weight, growth and development, among other things. As a general endocrinology doctor, she also cares for patients with diabetes and provides bone health care to prevent or manage osteoporosis. Dr. O’Connor has a special clinical interest in diabetes technology. This involves using devices such as automated insulin delivery systems to better manage type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Fascinated by how hormones affect different areas of our bodies, Dr. Connor’s goal is to balance each patient’s hormones and improve their quality of life. Outside of work, Dr. O’Connor enjoys cooking, traveling and exploring outdoors and the Madison area. I use my knowledge to help patients achieve their health goals and improve their quality of life.
