Caroline Cox, MD, is a UW Health female pelvic medicine doctor and assistant professor  in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She provides the full range of female pelvic wellness services.   Dr. Cox works with patients who have pelvic concerns related to the bladder, bowels and pelvic organs. She commonly treats urinary and bowel leakage and organ prolapse. She performs complex pelvic surgeries, including prolapse surgery (lifting the uterus, bladder or rectum when the organ has dropped) and incontinence (trouble controlling urine) surgery using a urinary sling. She has a special clinical interest in native tissue prolapse surgery (using a patient’s tissue rather than artificial mesh). Dr. Cox uses a patient-centered approach to care. She takes time to educate patients about their conditions and what is happening with their bodies. She listens carefully to their concerns and explains all treatment options. Dr. Cox’s goal is for her patients to feel 100% comfortable before they go into surgery with her. In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Cox is creating a universal digital library of pelvic imaging. Outside of work, Dr. Cox enjoys reading. It’s very rewarding to see how thankful patients are after we fix the problem they had.
